Highlights from the February meeting

02-Feb-10 18:15 | Bryan Labutta (administrator)

Something new that we're trying this year is a monthly article that talks about the "highlights" of CPNA's monthly meetings. We know that some people are not able to make the monthly meeting and we also want to let people who have never been to a meeting know about the important, educational, and fun items that are discussed each month.

Here are some highlights from February's meeting:

  1. Dinky Trail Phase 2 - Commissioner Stuart had some exciting news that progress on the Dinky Trail is getting back into gear. There are two new phases that will be getting underway soon. The first phase will extend the trail from Loch Haven to Mead Gardens and the second will take the trail from Loch Haven to Magnolia Ave. The ultimate goal is to be able to ride your bike all the way to the new Amway Center by 2012!
  2. Rollins St. Intersection Realignment - We had a wonderful presentation from Florida Hospital representatives on their planned "Health Village" that will be taking shape over the coming years. During their presentation, they commented that the realignment of Rollins St., which Adrian mentioned in his recent article about upcoming changes to Winter Park St., will be commencing this July and should be complete by December. This will align Rollins St. at Orange Ave. and will include new features such as dedicated turn lanes on Orange Ave. to ease congestion from people trying to turn onto Rollins.
  3. Vassar St Intersection Meeting - Keeping with the road construction theme, Commissioner Stuart mentioned that there will be a meeting on February 23rd at Edgewater H.S. to get public input regarding the plan to change the intersection of Vassar and Edgewater to relieve traffic congestion. All members of the public are encouraged to come out to the meeting, view all of the various options that have been discussed, and provide feedback and ideas about how to make this project successful.
  4. Sunday in the Park - If you haven't seen all of the other mentions on our site, the annual tradition of Sunday in the Park is coming on Sunday, March 21st to Dartmouth Park! Mark your calendars now for this always popular event!
  5. Winter 2010 Newsletter - The Winter 2010 newsletter is out and it's in color! Be sure to look for it around town. But, don't fret. If you don't see the newsletter you can still read all of the content on our website.

These are just some of the highlights from our monthly meeting. Be sure to watch for the full February minutes coming out later this month to get more details about the items I wrote about above as well as everything else that happened at the meeting. Hope to see you there next month!
